Vital Properties:
The Vital Triangle™ RCC

Aristotle once said, 'Poverty is the parent of crime...' and it's been evidenced that a higher poverty rate increases crime rates, so with homelessness being a direct byproduct of poverty, we have created a system, "The Vital Triangle™", solely focused on bettering the quality of life in Connecticut's communities beginning with Bridgeport within as close of proximity of the City’s economic empowerment zone as the City will allow. By doing so, not only will we tackle the issue of homelessness by answering the call of a critical need with a more impactful response to combatting the issue, we will lower our city’s poverty and crime rates.

The Vital Triangle™ consists of three key points for climax on a perpetually rotating triangle creating a constant new highpoint and eliminating the possibility for plateauing. The first is long-term substantial housing in our rent-controlled community. Ninety days of shelter for someone lacking stability just isn’t enough and even a year has proven to be too short of a time to make a truly transformative change needed to transition into the mindset and mode of development economically that’s necessary to thrive in community in today’s society with their current financial landscape. Our RCCs are designed to house each homeless adult for 3 years and here’s some of the reasons why...

Relationships

Our initial goal is to combat homelessness by providing housing. Once that’s done, where do we go on from there on a perpetually rotating triangle? Maintaining and managing. It’s just as important to teach one to care for where they call “Home” through proper care of their dwelling as it is to provide them one. Their management and maintenance of that home is vital to their growth and development so we are going to be there side by side with each tenant via our TEACH (Train, Educate, Assist, Coach, and Habituate) The System office which does those five things exactly and also ensures our properties are being appropriately maintained. The debt-to-income (DTI) ratio of 35% or less is generally considered good for a mortgage. This typically means that you are managing your debt well and have money left over for other expenses which ties into this point of The Vital Triangle™. Please keep that in mind as we move on because it’s vital that we come back to it.

Experience

With ongoing growth and development for our community members’ betterment being the largest part of our initiative, it was imperative that The Vital Triangle™ truly be perpetual and that meant figuring out how to keep its members within it. Upward mobility isn’t something that some members of society see as a possibility when they’re destitute, down, and discouraged, but our model and systems within it provide each adult member economic mobility through income, education, employment, neighborhood, and social capital. The final point of The Vital Triangle™: RCC (Rent-Controlled Community) is expansion through members’ advancement. They will walk in homeless and walk out joining us in our management offices as we will transition them into Field Office Leaders, Program Counselors, and Resource Coordinators because we believe the best leadership comes with personal experience enabling relatable empathy and understanding, as well as knowledge of environments and another’s past and future systems.

Accountability

It’s vital that we navigate a healthy unlearning process in a healthy environment but it’s equally as important that what fills those voided mental and emotional spaces is as meaningful and positively impactful as possible. We aren’t looking to create change one person or life at a time here, we’re looking to create mass change by the hundreds to take a truly significant transformative step towards ending homelessness, decreasing crime rates, and improving the quality of life for the underserved. We can only do that by producing members of society who can do the same and propel our initiative further. The Vital Triangle™: RCC (Rent-Controlled Community) Initiative will do just that and better underserved and underrepresented communities for the next 450 years aiming to reverse the effects of the former.
